Following on from our review of the New Zealand Certificate in Commercial Barbering (Level 4) [Ref: 2115 v3], Toi Mai – in consultation with industry – have developed seven barbering skill standards to align with programmes leading to the qualification. Based on feedback from the qualification review, the skill standards have been written to ensure they align with current and future industry skills.
These skill standards will replace the unit standards in commercial barbering programmes of study. The skill standards will be listed with the qualification conditions.
The standards are with NZQA, and we will update once we have further information.
Other existing barbering unit standards are being considered and reviewed separately.
