Conservation Level 3 micro-credentials and skill standards

Level 3 Conservation micro-credentials and skill standards have been approved and will be available on the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) website on 11 November.

The micro-credentials are:

Carry out a conservation activity (micro-credential) (Level 3, 15 credits)

The purpose of this micro-credential is to provide the Conservation industry with people who have practical and technical skills and knowledge required to prepare and carry out conservation activities as part of a team under supervision.

On successful completion of this micro-credential, learners/ākonga will be able to:

  • demonstrate kaitiakitanga while carrying out a conservation activity
  • select and use tools and devices for navigation
  • perform a control method, monitoring technique and data collection for a conservation activity
  • record and store conservation activity data
  • reflect on a conservation activity.

 

Manage self in a conservation activity as part of a team (micro-credential) (Level 3, 15 credits)

The purpose of this micro-credential is to provide the conservation industry with people who have skills and knowledge to effectively manage themselves to prepare, plan and participate in conservation activities as part of a team under supervision.

On successful completion of this micro-credential, learners will be able to:

  • work proactively as a team member in a conservation activity
  • demonstrate Health and Safety requirements, and tikanga and kawa
  • prepare self for the conservation activity.
