Beauty qualifications under review

Nine beauty qualifications are under review, with a survey launched this week to get feedback and suggestions from the industry.

The survey which will run until 31 March 2022, is also asking for participants in group and individual consultation later in February. It will be a great opportunity for people throughout the beauty therapy industry to have their say on the following qualifications, to make sure they are fit for purpose now and into the future:

Qualifications for review
3442 NZ Certificate in Makeup and Skin Care (Introduction) (Level 3)
3443 NZ Certificate in Nail Technology (Level 4)
3444 NZ Certificate in Beauty Therapy (Level 4)
3445 NZ Diploma in Beauty Therapy (Level 5)
3455 NZ Certificate in Performance Makeup and Prosthetics (Level 4)
3456 NZ Certificate in Makeup Artistry (Level 4) with optional strand in Face Casting
3457 NZ Certificate in Spa Therapy (Level 5)
3458 NZ Certificate in Specialised Epilation Therapy (Level 6)
3459 NZ Certificate in Specialised Skin Care Therapy (Level 6)

With six qualifications under Toitū te Waiora and three under Toi Mai (3442, 3455 and 3456), Sara Goff and Ashley Acklin from Toitū te Waiora will be taking the lead on the review which is expected to be completed in the middle of 2022.

Sara and Ashley are taking an innovative approach to engagement, using untapped avenues to engage with the small operators who are often drowned out by the bigger players. By making sure a range of voices are heard, we can make sure that the qualifications will best suit the needs of those involved throughout the industry.
