Creative Writing qualification review

E hiahia ana mātou te rongo i tāu e whakaaro ai!

Toi Mai will continue the mahi started by Toi Ohomai of reviewing four Creative Writing qualifications. Thanks to Toi Ohomai for leading this work to date.

The qualifications part of this review are:

  • New Zealand Certificate in Creative Writing level 4 [Ref: 3407]
  • New Zealand Diploma in Writing for Creative Industries level 5 [Ref: 3408]
  • New Zealand Diploma in Creative Writing level 6 [Ref: 3409]
  • New Zealand Diploma in Editing level 6 [Ref: 3410].

We understand from the usage and success data provided by NZQA that neither the Certificate in Creative Writing nor the Diploma in Editing have been offered by providers.

Consequently, we propose to expire both of those qualifications unless there are any objections.

The two other qualifications continue to be attained by a steady stream of graduates, and we are also interested to know if they have the skills that industry needs.

It is important we hear from as many people and organisations as possible. This will help us ensure that qualifications continue to meet the current and future needs of the sector.

If you would like to provide feedback here is the link to our survey about the qualifications.

Another way to participate is to join an advisory group. You can signal your interest and how you might want to be involved.
