Equine coaching qualification and unit standard review

Toi Mai has reviewed the following Equine Coaching qualifications:

  • NZ Certificate in Equine Coaching (Level 3) [Ref: 2372]
  • NZ Certificate in Equine Coaching (Level 4) with strands in Dressage, Eventing, and Jumping [Ref: 2373]
  • NZ Certificate in Equine (Therapeutic Riding – Assistant Coach) (Level 3)  [Ref: 2378]
  • NZ Certificate in Equine (Therapeutic Riding – Coach) (Level 4) [Ref:2379]
The review was overseen by representatives from the sector and providers currently offering programmes leading to these qualifications.
These qualifications are with NZQA for approval and listing.
Related standards will be reviewed closer to their planned review date of December 2025.

Proposed review outcome

No significant changes to the content and a new planned review date of 31 December 2029 for:

  • NZ Certificate in Equine (Therapeutic Riding – Assistant Coach) (Level 3) [Ref: 2378] 
  • NZ Certificate in Equine (Therapeutic Riding – Coach) (Level 4) [Ref: 2379] 
  • NZ Certificate in Equine Coaching (Level 3) [Ref: 2372] 

Expiry of the following qualification due to lack of usage, with a last date of assessment of 31 December 2025: 

  • NZ Certificate in Equine Coaching (Level 4) with strands in Dressage, Eventing, and Jumping [Ref: 2373]
