IT qualifications review

E hiahia ana mātou ki te rongo i tāu e whakaaro ai! We want to hear what you think!

We invite your feedback on the revised suite of the professionally aligned IT qualifications. Included below are a summary of changes, draft qualification documents (clean and tracked versions), and a programme guidance sample.

These draft versions reflect the work of an advisory group and writing groups composed of subject matter experts. These groups met regularly to review and recommend changes to the suite. The drafts also incorporate feedback from tertiary providers delivering IT programmes.

The review process was guided by insights from the Toi Whanui Workforce Development Plan (WDP), published by Toi Mai in May 2024. This plan captured extensive engagement across the digital technologies sector and highlighted key workforce trends, skills needs and future directions.

To ensure alignment with global standards, the revised qualifications and, more specifically, the programme guidance reference the Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA), supporting consistent, industry-recognised language and outcomes.

Keep reading for a summary of changes to this suite of qualifications. Please refer to the resources section further below for the documentation (both clean and with tracked changes).
