Music qualifications

We are currently reviewing qualifications in music, which comprise the following:

• New Zealand Certificate in Music Level 4 [Ref: 3418]
• New Zealand Diploma in Music Level 5 [Ref: 3431]
• New Zealand Diploma in Music Level 6 [Ref: 3432]

Reasons for the review

The qualifications were created in 2017 as part of the mandatory review of qualifications and have been reviewed to ensure that they remain current and fit for purpose.

Proposed changes across the qualifications

• General conditions for programmes have been updated and grouped under subheadings for Programme Design, Practical Experience and Professional Standards. These statements are to assist programme developers and reflect a strengthened emphasis on the integration of te ao Māori and other cultural perspectives.
• The strategic purpose statements and GPOs have been amended to better reflect required competencies for graduates, including those relating to musical performance and professional practice. The amendments also more clearly articulate progression between the qualifications.
