Toi Mai has developed a new micro-credential and three skill standards in collaboration with social community providers that address a need for the performing arts emerging tutor.
Throughout Aotearoa, social community groups, such as circus, dance and theatre offer opportunities for ākonga (learners) of all ages, stages and abilities to engage in performing arts learning sessions. As participants consistently acquire skills through these sessions, some have transitioned into roles where they assist the lead tutor. This progression not only allows them to further develop their skills but also empowers them to take on responsibilities as emerging tutors within the performing arts.
This micro-credential and skill standards will provide a formal learning pathway for ākonga and may inspire graduates to pursue further learning, employment or participation in their own communities and/or performing arts communities.
