The Toi Mai Workforce Development Council will be closing operations from 19 December, and disestablished from 31 December 2025. The Services Industry Skills Board; Electrotechnology and Information Technology Industry Skills Board; Food and Fibre Industry Skills BoardConstruction and Specialist Trades Board will pick up its functions.

In simple terms, Claire describes herself as “an accidental academic with a gift for administration and leadership.” She is excited to be involved in building a diverse and transformational organisation, which she believes will change the face of vocational education in Aotearoa. ​​​​​​​

Claire is an administrator, academic, author, award-winning designer, political scientist and respected political commentator, with degrees in politics and design from Victoria University and Wellington Polytechnic and a PhD from Massey University. Prior to joining Toi Mai, she was Professor of Communication Design and Pro Vice-Chancellor of Massey University’s College of Creative Arts in Wellington.
