Toi Mai Digital Skills Survey 2025

Toi Mai Workforce Development Council is undertaking a comprehensive digital skills survey of New Zealand to better understand the needs of organisations that employ digital technology workers. The survey is not limited to digital technology companies, but rather all organisations that employ digital technology workers throughout the country. This information will help inform education providers, learners, peak bodies, government and industry as to where to prioritise future training resources.

The survey builds on the last Digital Skills Survey undertaken in 2023, which helped provide information for NZTech’s Digital Skills for Tomorrow, Today report, and informed Te Wao Toi Whānui, the first vocational workforce development plan for the digital technology sector. Information from this survey will help inform the next Digital Skills Report.

We have also built upon the last survey and have added and adapted some questions, keeping in line with changes in workforce composition and industry skills needs.

The survey

The survey will take approximately 15–30 minutes to complete and will be conducted in complete confidence. Individual responses will not be publicly identifiable.

We would like the most senior person in your organisation with knowledge of your digital technology team and technology skills needs to complete the survey.

While comprehensive, the survey has been divided into short sections and some sections skip, depending upon answers provided.

If you need to verify answers with others internally, you can exit the survey and restart anytime, and your responses will be saved (you must hit the ‘next’ button in order to save the page you are working on).

Before beginning, having access to organisation information, such as organisation size, demographic information, digital technology skills needs, recruitment information and organisation training practices will help speed up the survey.
