Sport and recreation qualifications expiry

We want to hear from you! E hiahia ana mātou te rongo i tāu e whakaaro ai!

Toi Mai wants to ensure our qualifications are current and meet the needs of industry. We have found that the following sport and recreation qualifications and their associated standards have very low or no usage by providers over the past five years. We propose that the qualifications and standards below are expired with a last date of assessment of 31 December 2027.

  • 3229 New Zealand Certificate in Sport Coaching (Level 4)
  • 3230 New Zealand Certificate in Sport Coaching (Level 5)
  • 3572 New Zealand Certificate in Sport and Recreation (Community Development) (Level 5), and unit standards 32047.doc & 32048.doc

For providers and standard setting bodies, maintaining resources for programmes that aren’t being used is not sustainable. By expiring these qualifications, it will allow organisations to direct resources towards qualifications and standards that are in demand by industry and learners.

We are also seeking feedback on the review of other Sports and Recreation qualifications: Sport and recreation qualifications review
