Toi Mai has developed the Māori Data Analytics micro-credential, designed to strengthen Māori capability in data literacy and communication. Grounded in the Poipoia Framework by Auraki Group, this course blends Tirohanga Māori (Māori perspectives) with applied data and writing skills to build both cultural grounding and technical confidence.
Developed in response to the growing need for Māori-led approaches to data, the programme empowers learners to interpret, analyse and present information in ways that enhance mana and uphold Māori data sovereignty. This initiative aligns with the Toi Mai commitment to te Tiriti o Waitangi, creating meaningful pathways for Māori learners and communities, and supporting a future where Māori perspectives are visible and valued in the data landscape.
