Toi Pāho is the sector that creates engaging screen-based moving image and audio content for wide distribution. Of the Toi Mai sectors, this is the largest employer of Māori.

Preliminary Journalism Skills
Screen Industry
Proposed Screen Craft qualification and programme – Following rounds of feedback, we revised the proposed New Zealand Certificates in Screen Industry Craft Skills and developed four New Zealand certificates at levels 3–6, and two New Zealand programmes for the levels 3 and 4 qualifications.
Ngā Awa Kōrero – Toi Pāho journalism workforce development plan, released 2024.
Podcasting for social media skill standard – This skill standard was developed in 2024 as an introduction to podcasting.
Te Waha o Tāne – Toi Pāho above-the-line workforce development plan, released 2024.
Te Wao Nui o Toi – Toi Pāho below-the-line workforce development plan, released 2023.
Creative Writing qualification review – We expired two unused qualifications.
Screen-sector micro-credential – The Introduction to the Screen Industry micro-credential and three skill standards have been approved by NZQA.
Screen Production qualifications review – We completed the review of two qualifications. These were approved by NZQA on 30 June 2023.
Radio and Communications Media qualifications review – We completed a scheduled review of qualifications in Communications Media and Radio Broadcasting in 2022.
Journalism qualification review – We completed a scheduled review of qualifications in Journalism in 2022.
